OUR STORY

Era Uma Vez Project was born in July 2023 by Beatriz Medina. Beatriz has been in Australia for over 10 years. She has graduated in Australia with a Bachelor Of Education. In the last 7 years, Beatriz has been working in different learning settings in different roles such as Codirector, Teacher and Inclusion Support. Education has always been her passion, she is fascinated by embedding diversity and cultural awareness in her program.

At Era Uma Vez we believe in the attachment theory, which means the core of our program is affection, building positive and strong relationships with children. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, secure and included. We respect each child’s pace and listen to the children’s needs and interests to be embedded in our program.

BIA
Founder, Coordinator and Teacher
Hello, I'm Bia! I'm the founder, coordinator, and teacher at Era Uma Vez! I'm passionate about pedagogy and child development. I love integrating cultural and social inclusion in classrooms, and above all, applying affectionate and respectful education!
Some say I was born for this... and I believe it!
- I hold a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Australia.
- Currently pursuing a Teacher Training - Portuguese as a Heritage Language.
- Diploma in Waldorf Kindergarten Education.
- Conscious Education - Florescer Project.
Currently, I work as a teacher and director at a Community Kindergarten. I've been living in Australia for over 10 years and have been working in education for over 7 years.
I'm passionate about pedagogy and working with children. I strongly believe in Waldorf pedagogy, as well as the methods of Reggio Emilia and Montessori, where children are seen as individuals, and autonomy, creativity, social, and emotional aspects are fundamental for their development.

Hello, my dear ones! I'm Paty!
I completed the Waldorf kindergarten teacher training in Brazil.
I'm the mother of two incredible girls. One of them is Bia, and it's with great joy and love that I'm a volunteer in this Era Uma Vez project.
Having all these beautiful children by my side and being able to contribute to this interaction by sharing our Brazilian culture along with the Portuguese language fills me with joy.
I'm very grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Era Uma Vez team.

MARIANA

Educator
Hello, my name is Mariana. Ever since I can remember, I've been interested in learning new languages and using techniques to absorb new words.
In Brazil, while working in human resources at a private English school, I had contact with native teachers of various languages and children interested in learning these languages. Watching them, I began to study more about how bilingualism aids in memory development, planning, and focus.
In Australia, I completed the Diploma of Counselling and Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care, and currently work as an educator at an Early Learning Centre. I believe that implementing counselling techniques in the education of bilingual children is crucial and impacts self-esteem and a sense of belonging.
LARISSA

Era Uma Vez, there was a girl named Larissa who now goes by Lari. She crossed paths with her life partner Leandro, her biggest supporter and encourager of her projects. They share dreams and have been parenting Tomás, Nicolás, and Mila for over 13 years!
She studied psychology, always wrote poetry, and her greatest joy is being in the company of her family and loved ones!
She came to Australia, became a counsellor, and post graduated degree in Positive Education. She believes in the transformative power of affection, love, which heals any pain!
She loves working with children; they bring more joy and poetry into her life, with their innocence and spontaneity, values she nurtures with loyalty!
She believes in education as self-education, being attentive to oneself and our emotions as the path to a healthy, loving, and respectful relationship with oneself and for those who wish to cultivate friends! Nice to meet you!

Hello, I am Elisa. :)
I am a teacher who never dreamed of becoming one; but 8 years ago, I found myself in a classroom and since then, I've been on a journey of passion and dedication with the Portuguese language.
Every day is an opportunity to inspire, teach, and shape brilliant and thoughtful minds, sharing the beauty of the language and the richness of literature. Being a Portuguese language teacher is more than a profession; it's a calling.
I am also the mother of a beautiful 5-year-old girl who brightens my days and makes my world much more colourful.
